Alternator belt change question
Sorry for the n00b question but I'm trying to change my alternator belt and I'm not sure how to get the damn thing off. I loosened the adjuster bolt and slid the belt off the pulley on the alternator but I'm not sure how to get the belt off the crank pulley. Do I need to remove the power steering belt and A/C belt as well to remove the belt since the alternator belt is on the inside of the crank pulley?

Re: Alternator belt change question (Throwdown)
Thanks for the response and you assume correctly. The alternator belt was squeaking like a banshee and I had planned on on replacing it until I got into it and discovered that I'd have to remove the other belts...what a PITA! I tightened it pretty good as I put the belt back on and it's not squeaking right now at least. I guess I'll see what happens when it gets cold and damp again.
If the squeaking doesn't stay gone are there any tips for removing the other two belts? Modified by dotay at 10:46 PM 12/30/2006 |
