Alternative to 99-00 power steering line in EJ8?
Car: 97 Civic EX
Engine: LS
I want to keep the power steering in my car and i'm having trouble finding the line I need. I'm trying to run a B pump in my car and can't find the hard line out of a 99-00 SI for the right price. Majestic Honda has them new for $90 and there was a used one on ebay for $80 shipped, this is more than I want to spend.
Can I cut the metal part of the D line and use a compression fitting and attach it to the B line? Would this hold the pressure and last? Should I attempt this myself or should I take it to someone who does hydraulic lines? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Alternative to 99-00 power steering line in EJ8?
Ok, the D pump I have is from a 97 Civic, and the mounts are way closer together than the B bracket. It will bolt up but it has no adjustability. I also have B pumps from a 94 Integra and a 96 Integra and i'm pretty sure they're the same. Also the fitting that bolts to the top of the pump on the D series pump is smaller in diameter in the B series pumps. So basically what are my options? How much pressure does that line actually hold?

I don't know about the LS, but I have a '98 Civic EX coupe with a '00 B18C1. It was always important to me that I keep all my options.
FOR POWER STEERING
- B16 power steering pump ($40)
- Original power steering hoses/lines ("free")
FOR AIR CONDITIONING
- D-series a/c compressor (I needed a new one because my stock one was bad - $25)
- '94 del Sol VTEC a/c bracket (only for one year del Sol VTEC btw!) (lists for $160 NEW - 38930-P54-000)
Only pic of the bay I have readily available.
EDIT: Found another one from another angle even though the car wasn't all together.

My B16 pump cost me $40.
I don't get why you need to make your own.

If you're using an Integra pump, it won't work. You need a 99-00 EM1 (Civic Si) pump to make this work. The 99-00 Si pump uses the same hose fitting as the 96-00 d-series civic pump.

I was trying to run the LS pump and I was just trying to figure out a way to work with what I have. I was not aware that the 99-00 SI pump uses the same fitting as the D series.

Yep. Working just fine in my car.
I can post a cell phone pic of it on my car, which might be a little bit better than the photos I already posted.

No thanks, not necessary. I'll start my hunt for a B16 pump now. Thank you all.

You can use a integra pump, from any obd2b integra, or a em1 pump w/ your stock line. You will need b-series upper and lower brackets.

Re: Alternative to 99-00 power steering line in EJ8?
Brackets came on my engine. I didn't think any '94-'01 Integras came with manual steering in the US anyway. I don't know why anyone would remove the brackets for sale of the engine.
Plus, according to the thread already linked, the lines on the "OBD2 D-series/EM1" are different from the "OBD1 D-series/OBD1/OBD2 Integra" lines.
