Default Alright so my car broke down today the first day i drove it HELP PLEASE

alright so am waiting for the red light to turn green. i had it in first gear ready to go. on green i took off. once i took off the motor revved up and didn't move. i tired putting into second thinking first gear gave out and nothing. their was not clutch smell whats so ever. i tired turning it on and it made a noise where the tranny is but the engine didn't fire up. before this happening i felt a rattle or shaking feel in the clutch pedal and was hard to put into gear. then thats when it broke down on me. so are the motors suppose not to turn back on again. the clutch was already bad when i bought it. so am already buying a new clutch. please if you guys could help me out. i start school on friday this friday coming up thanks alot

NEW POSTED TODAY JULY 10TH 2007:alright so i tired every store near me and none have the tool am looking for to retread where the flywheel bolts go. can anyone please tell me where i could bring my car by towing. so they could fix this asap i start school next week on monday. the thread is the fine one. can anyone tell any machine shop or anywhere else could fix this am in brooklyn n.y thanks again

Your car not starting isn't your clutch. Sounds more like a piston sized to me. Even if your clutch/tranny went bad, your car would still turn over and start, you just wouldn't move very far.

gooutside and check your oil for us real quick then come back if your clutch gave out there are still ways to make it move and your engine WILL start with a blown clutch

Does your car start? Explain to me what happens when you turn the key.

The flywheel has nothing to do with it either. It could be your starter however. Are you throwing a CEL?

I think something may have happened to that flywheel.. maybe shattered, cracked, fell off? Anything related to engine AND tranny issues all at once could be the flywheel. Unless 2 separate things broke at once..

I have experienced this before in my shop. It was on an automatic car but i've seen this happen on a manual car too. What could have happened is, the starter is turning the flywheel, but the flywheel could have broken off of the crankshaft. When this happens, your flywheel will turn from the starter, but the motor itself will not turn. To know for sure, you have to take your tranny off and look to see what happened. Good luck bro.

Car was running all untill he tried to take off. Once he took off, the engine just started to rev up and car didn't wanna move. Seems like the clutch wasn't grabbing to anything (what was left of it since it was bad) and now after all that, the car doesnt start? He tries to start but only hears the starter spinning freely not engaged to anything.. You don't think the flywheel took a ****? I certainly do.

crappy/faulty flywheel... You never know.. you may have an aftermarket cheap aluminum flywheel that has broken/shattered... Once you take off tranny, you most certainly see that flywheel loose or unattached.. It'd be crazy if the center piece of the flywheel that bolts to the crank broke off but that's what I'm guessing happened.. Maybe only 2 bolts were used to attatch the flywheel and they broke off? So many different but similar things could have happened.. but I'm pretty sure it's all to do within that middle area of the flywheel. I want to know what the outcome is.. Take and post pics when you take it apart!
