Default All Motor b18c

I just recently purchased a gutted 1992 Civic Hatch. I plan on putting an all motor B18c1 or c5. My questions are first of all I plan on going high compression. I know the stock motor has 11:1 cr, If i were to step up to 12:1 would I need to get a new starter because I know high compression motors are harder to crank over. Also, I'm used to turbo, I have a turbo'd 94 LS, but would I need to get the block sleeved or have a cylinder brace installed, or can you keep the open block design. Any help or advice at all on building an all motor b18c would be awesome.

Well first of all the stock compression ratio on a B18C1 is 9.8:1 (10.8:1 C5) not 11:1. Second, a higher torque starter isn't required on a Honda...it's not a big block Chevy. Third, you can keep the open block design and be just fine but if you open the engine up it probably wouldn't hurt to stick a block guard in there for additional peace of mind, but you certainly don't need to sleeve it or anything.

My advice is to build the **** out of the head and get the most massive cams you can find. Also, invest in a standalone tuning system so when you bump your compression and cam profiles way up you can take full advantage of the new powerband without worrying about putting a hole in your block.

Wait, I thought the c1 had a 10.0:1 CR & the c5 had a 10.2:1 CR?

IMO, if you want to go NA, build the hell out of that ITR c5 motor. If you want to turbo get a GSR c1.

Honda starters are beefy...dont believe me? open you clutch bleeder and step on the clutch, put the car in first gear and start it (make shure there is nothing in front of you)....
