I believe they are different because there is a difference somewhere in the yrs when they switched over to the newer Freon.
So I would think there is a difference. Not sure when the switch over was.
I want to say 93-95 is the newer type and 92 are the older type.
.
Just a guess though, not totally sure.

Correct. We sell the HCP H22 AC bracket and it only works with the 92+ Civic SOHC AC compressors that are R34, not the older R112. I forget the manufacturer names of each (for the EF's, it's Sanden & Mitsushito, but forget for the EG/EK cars) but that should help.

The switch from r12 to r134 was in the 94 model year, not much changed other than some o-rings and some stuff under the dash. The two makers for the 5th generation civics were sanden and hadsys. Sanden being the better of the two imo. If your current compressor is a sanden, I recieved great service and a good deal from this place http://www.autoaircompressors.com/sandencomp.htm their compressors are safe for r12 and r134. Keep in mind that scince you will be opening the system you need to get a a/c reciver dryer and should consider replacing the expansion valve under the dash too.
