Default Are all B-series starters the same?
I have a JDM B16a1 obd0 and I need a starter. Can I get any B-series starter and will it work with no complications? Or do I have to get a B16 starter?

B series starts should be the same if I remember correctly. Just make sure it has that metal shield around it. If you don't see the metal shield, then its a SOHC alternator

So with a jdm b16a1 obd0 and a Y21 hydraulic tranny when I go into the auto store what starter do I ask for?????????

I thought the starters were different between the B-series. Something to do with the number of teeth-count on starters. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I don't know about B-series starters, but D-series are different between automatic and manual trannys.
