Is alignment always a good idea?
Is a front end alignment always necessary or a good idea after having done any of the following:
1. replace the tie-rod
and/or
2. replace the dust seal of the rack end (inner tie-rod)

If you change anything that has to do with your wheels, or the frame of the car its always a good idea to get a alignment.
Hell i even heard if you get better rims, or smaller rims, to get a alignment, but i just heard about that one no hard proof, can anyone back this one up?

always get an alignment after doin any suspension work. just go to NTB they got like a six month warranty so any work for the next six months you get an alignment for free

National Tire and Battery, are you serious? Do they have good equiptment to work with lowered vehicles?
i guess theres something about NTB makes me not want to go there. Im not saying they dont do it well it just seems like a place i would not want to take my car.
let me know though because i need an alignment asap.

Agreed, do an alignment check after anyone is monkeying around down there. Find a shop that uses a decent laser alignment system.
The boys at Acura/Honda Specialists did mine yesterday and my left front camber was way off my right front (oddly enough, the left front had the new axle installed a while back).

last time i went there i had to pay $90 for a "difficult" alignment they used to offer the alignment for the same price and non difficult just with no warranty. now they told me that they must offer a warranty on all of their allignments so it costs more for a lowered vehicle and i got a 98 civic dropped approx 2.5 in.

so you are happy huh? Did they give you a print out showing all your specs before and after and what they corrected?
I don't think i would want to get one done here simply b/c all the stupid *** people here in miami. Im sure some worker there would screw something up.

1) If I paid attention when I was removing the tie-rod I wouldn't have to get an alignment
2) Same answer.
If the mechanic didn't count the turns or mark the original placement, then yes, your toe is probably slightly off -- enough to need an alignment? that's up to you.

firestone offers lifetime allignments as long as you own the car , our rack will fit lowered cars and bodykitted cars too , i used to do all the alignments untill i got into my wreck and now i am home ridden for a while , heh , but the lifetime aligment is 125.00 but you can talk them into hitting that discount button and taking 15 dollars off , because they will do it , because they make $10 on every lifetime alignment
