Default air/fuel guage..working half ***...

i installed my a/f guage a couple days ago..and it didnt work..so i fucked around with it more, and tried it to all 4 wires off the o2 sensor, just for ***** and giggles..when i turn on the car, sometimes it would stay in lean(red) or just in rich (green) anyhow, i know i have it hooked up right now, it works, but half ***.

it goes into rich and to the middle of stoich, then cuts off. it wont go into lean.

what could it be?

I concur.

If it isn't too late, return it, its useless, except for maybe ***** and giggles.

Actually, you are. You are asking "what could it be" in respect to it acting all goofy.

That is what they do, and that is why they are useless.

and I am sure that you are not supposed to hook it up to every wire either, but you did that anyway.

Listen to what we are telling you.

It is WORTHLESS. If you shat and giggled today, then it did its job.

i hooked it up to each wire INDIVIDUALLY.

7248 posts to be exact.

Are you sure the gauge is good? Have you checked the connections? Which wire do you have the signal wire hooked to?

They arent useless, they make a pretty light show, listen to tony man if your going to complain about it acting funny then take it out cause thats all it does. Just replace it with something worthwhile or just dont put any more worthless gauges in your car.

Which gauge would be better for monitoring air/fuel ration for under $500? I know the automoter a/f gauge is crap, but what would you get that wouldn't cost more than the price of a T3?

Hehehe, I got one of those $15 ones from Hobbycar or something. Never hooked it up, but if its funny to watch then I will.

If I have a JDM B16 swap, the 02 sensor has 4 wires, which one?

Default stuff

What model civic are you running it on? IF in fact it isnt the correct voltage coming off the sensor, you will get incorrect readings and it will act funny like that.

yea, you're not supposed to hook up the signal wire to every wire on the 02. if you ground out the signal wire, you have ruined the gauge. at least to my understanding. or maybe your gauge is just whack.

so youll be on the gas???? and it will shut off right , cause its supposed to go blank when you take your foot off the pedal... and BTW these guages are good to moniter ur airfuel , you cant really do anything about it unless you get a wideband o2 , the jumping around is the computer doing its job......

i've had my auto-meter air/fuel gauge for over two years now and about 2 months ago, it was acting really crazy.. i even posted a thread about it, turns out the wire to the o2 sensor was loose so instead of T tapping it i just spliced the wire into it and it works like a charm again.. so maybe check to see if the wire has full contact to the o2, hope that helps.
