air conditioning...something is making a weird noise
think my AC compressor is kinda jacked up. i think that's what they call it (picture below) when i turn on my AC and listen to the AC compressor, i hear a clicking noise like valves clicking. is that normal or is it going? can somebody do to their sohc and turn on their AC and see if that compressor clicks when the fan turns on. Thanks, appreciate it.

Re: (the soL that could)
the bearings on the clutch are going out. the will get worse too, soon when you put the ac on it will squeal like a pig.
you can get the clutch spereatly from the compressor. but to fix it is a pain because you have to evacuate the system

You're better off. I took off my AC stuff when I put on my turbo and out of curriosity I took apart the compressor. There are swirly things in the bottom that I CANNOT get to line up for the life of me. Well, I can get the two pieces back together, but then it won't spin at all. Plus the little bastard ball bearings like to go everywhere.

Does the clutch engage and disengage while this is happening or does the clutch stay engaged the whole time?

i think it only engages when you turn on the AC. i don't hear any weird noises when my AC is off.

I'm asking if the clicking is the clutch engaging and disengaging or does the clutch stay engaged the whole time it is clicking or have you never looked to see?
