air conditioning issue
ok i searched, but couldnt find anything really relevant to my problem so..
almost a year ago when i first got this current car, i understeered (rain + turning too fast + 175 treadwidth crap tires = me hit curb) into a curb, which somewhat bent my radiator support.. which i had repaired soon at a body shop. now my a/c really had not worked, but i figure i may have cracked something then? my fan shroud is bent so im pretty sure my condensor may have a crack.
so... i let it go and just odnt use my a/c, considering it was getting colder anyways... then about 2 months ago i just cut the belt for some gangsta hp increase y0 (i got bored)
now, its getting to be summer and im taking a trip to pittsburgh with a friend of mine (who is a somewaht high-maintenance female) -- so i definetely need A/C lol
Heres the problem, I couldjust need a new fan shroud and a recharge.. or i could need a new condensor/lines. I figure, recharge is relatively inexpensive and so is a fan shroud ($15 at a junkyard)... I know my compressor is good.. and i just gotta throw a belt on. But what if I have a leak?
What exactly am i looking for? should i replace a hose? replace the condensor? (I found a few junkyard condensors for as low as $65)
Or take it to Firestone and let them recharge it and use the invisible ink to see if theres a leak?
Final question: ballpark estimated cost? SInce i have a good compressor and good fan/motor ... the most id have to buy are lines, and a condensor and a recharge right? jsut any ball park cost.. i wanna know if ill be dropping liek $300 on this gayness...
thanks for any help

my AC doesn't work either, but I have no belt on mine right now. I'm thinking the previous owner must have cut it off for some reason. I just hope I can throw a new one on and have the AC still work. Summer and hot weather is approaching!

i would just take it to a trustworthy shop. ac condensors are one of the highest paying jobs they get, so make sure you take it a few places to make sure you actually need one. and depending on type of freon (?) it uses just a recharge can easily be over 100 dollars. I know my 92 takes the expensive older ****, but they might have changed that between 92 and your 94
