Default Air Breathers???

Where do you install them?
What do they do?

I see these things all the time and all I know about them is what I see. Can somebody please explain this for me?

A breather filter, that goes on the crank case, valve cover etc. is exactly what it sounds like, instead of having a open hole where anything can get into the breather filter lets air escape and enter without harmful contaminents getting in.

I assume your talking about the air breather that goes on the valve cover. They suck after a little while oil will get all over the engine compartment. You use an air breather in place of the by-pass hose on an aftermarket air intake.

Most people use them with a turbo application since there is no breather hose connecting the valve cover and the intake. Dont get one, just use the hose that connects your valve cover to your intake.

Only time I would recomend one is when you remove your power steering and you get rid of that vacuum line.

I'm also interested in these, but since I'm not FI. How or where could I get the

hose coming from the valve cover to the intake? Mine is broke at the vavle cover,

so I need a new one or try the breather hose.

Just go to autozone and get some 1 3/4 fule line, like 6" and cut it. Should be about $1.
