Default AH! I just found out my brake rotors were never bolted to the hub!

I just swaped in some new pads on my hatch today and notice the front left brake rotor was never screwed into the hub. Kind of disturbing I think. What kind of problems do you think this could have caused?

none, i have multiple friends that dont have those, if u think about it tightening your wheels presses the rotors hard enough against the hub, they havent had those screws for a long time and no problems yet

A lot of other cars (Toyota, Chrysler) don't even have anything more than a small clip that threads onto one of the wheel studs (in Chrysler's case), and some toyotas have nothing but the wheel holding the rotor on.

The only forseeable problem is that debris can collect between the hub and the rotor, causing your steeringwheel to shake under braking. When you put everything back together, just make sure, there's no rocks or debris between the 2 mounting surfaces. Otherwise, don't worry about it. I'd get the rotor atachment screws, and put it back together right though. As long as your wheels stay on, the rotor isn't going anywhere.

i've had the car for a few months now and haven't had any problems. Coincidently thats the same part of the car where the wheel pretty much fell of when I bought the it. I paid the guy and drive around the corner onto city streets and the damn thing almost fell off. It got stuck on two lug nuts.

No problems at all. Most race car drivers do this.
