Ah, finally back in the Honda game.
Sweet Jesus, it's about time. Those who know me will remember that I wrecked my poor 96 hatchback about a year ago, and bought a 97 240sx to replace it. Well, that was a cool car and all, but I really missed my Honda while I was gone (well, missed driving it anyway, it's been sitting in my garage the whole time).
Sweetness...yesterday I sold my 240 and today I bought another 96 hatchback! Now normally I have really bad luck, but things worked out well for me with the cars. Here's the breakdown:
I got about $4200 (blue book was about $5500 at the time) or so from insurance for my totalled Civic. Bought it back for about $600.
I sold all the turbo and suspension parts to pay for my 240. Paid $4700 for a 97 240 with 85k miles on it. SWEET. Way below book value. At that time Blue Book on it was over 8k.
Invested approx $2000 in tires, speakers, suspension, and brakes for the 240.
Sold 240sxwith 99k miles on it for $6650. That's like renting a car for $50 a year
Looking at EK hatchbacks...all are rediculously overpriced. I liked the 98 that a local dealership had for sale. Only 180k miles on it, a bargain at under $9000. Puuulease.
Today I bought a 96 CX hatchback....77k miles...decent overall shape, runs good, needs paint but body is straight...$3000. Adult owned...not some piece of crap some highschool riceboy has been tearing up. That's what I'm talking about.
The bad part is....getting used to the silent exhaust, the high ride, the poor handling, and of course the loss of over 200 WHP. It's gonna take some work to get this thing back up to HT FI spec
