"slim jim" is some kind of long thing metal tool used to unlock doors from the outside. Yes, there is a way to prevent it, you gotta take apart your door and put something that will block your locks.

Re: (swatdog)
I put a long bar throught the front wheels and there is no way that you can not make noise if you want to get it out and it'll make noise and I will wake up and you have to deal with a 2nd blackbelt out /a trained boxer when I run out there so ( your fucked homey)
sorry to hear you got your stuff jacked

Re: (allmtrwhore2)
if a theif knows what their doing they can slim jim in under 16secs. I worked at a car lot and we had a repo ford taurus. My first time i had the door open in less then a min. I like the idea of the metal rod, but what if you forget you put it there??

Re: (dpw41285)
slim jim is a 1/16" thick yet 3' long and 1" wide metal rod with an upped edge at the lower end which will catch on the lock rod at the door latch assembly.
people say to protect against it by taking your panel off and putting a tube, etc around the door rods, etc so the tube is too big for the upped edge to grab on to.
too bad this doesnt do ****. they will just slim jim around the latch until they hook it just right and pop the door anyway, only way to get around this is to get some of that plumbing **** "great stuff" and spray it all around the latch assembly inside the door and work the locks and door handle as it dries...
just hope you dont have to gut your door and swap anything when you wreck the car is all cause you wont get that stuff off once it hardens...bright side...slim jim wont be able to chip it off etc to get at the lock rod at the latch assembly and will still have full travel...

Re: AGAIN ******* THEVES (dirtyapes)
you can prevent the theives from using the slim jim all you want...they can still pry your windows and reach in and open the lock from the inside. that's what they did with my car 2 times now!! the window will flex to a certain point allowing a person to reach in and open the door from the inside. i didn't believe this either when i was told by the cop who found my car stripped, but i tried it since my car was already just a shell...and to my astonishment it worked!

Re: AGAIN ******* THEVES (dirtyapes)
Get a good alarm with a back up battery with sensors on the windows, doors, hood etc. Hook up the club on the steering wheel with the clutch pedal Club as well. Get the shifter security as well. A thief will probably take one look at your car and quickly move on! Hahah suckers!
