Most of the time the Si badge you see on 99-00 SI's are from EP3 si's
People just double stick tape them to their grill.

Are you using a stock headlight harness?

Are you using any kind of coolblue bulbs? Silverstars? Anything like that? If so, don't expect to get more than a few months out of them.

Bump on the grille question... I kinda want an Si grille (with the logo) myself, but I don't really want to pay OEM honda prices on it. Last I checked, they were about $300 for everything from Majestic Honda. Can I just get one of the aftermarket CTR style grilles and stick an OEM Si H logo in the middle of it? From the parts diagrams, it seems like it would work - anyone done that? I know most people do the opposite and remove the H from their EM1 grilles, but I like to keep my badging.

Besides, my coupe grille looks like hell after 200K.

i think its silverstar hell i just get them from walmart tell ya what its like 11 bucks for 2 bulbs and thats just fine for me, i just didnt know if there was something else i could look at to see.....

im a lil worryed about double side taping a 16 buck badge to a grill lol. i think i will just stay stock on that part, yeah some people take the H off right now because of a body kit i dont even have the option for the grill its kinda built into the bumper, but i think i might just get a blank grill just with the fin like things and keep the H off it. i like badges but i dont they get in the way when your glossing your car lol.

but thanks everyone for the replys

You just use an Si grille, a Type R grille or a DIY/eBay grille.

Tape or glue an emblem on the front.

Not exactly what I would ever do to a car, but at least it's not on mine.

No. Honda doesn't usually release production numbers.

What I've heard though (not confirmed) is:
7,500 1999 Milano Red
7,500 1999 Flamenco Black Pearl
15,000 1999 Electron Blue Pearl
7,500 2000 Milano Red
7,500 2000 Flamenco Black Pearl
15,000 2000 Electron Blue Pearl

I would not be surprised to see the total numbers much higher though.

Do you touch the bulb? Have you checked to see what kind of power is coming through? Have you replaced the fuse?

I've had SilverStar bulbs last for two years with no issue.

Repaint the shell and then use dye to make the grille black again.

If they're $11 a pack then they're not SilverStars. SilverStars are $40-50 a pack. You're probably running stock replacement Sylvania bulbs.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "they get in the way when your glossing your car", but I'll assume you mean when you're detailing your car. Trim and grilles don't usually get in my way. I detail a lot. Use blue painter's tape to mask things like that off and/or dye the trim again if you overlap onto it.

I don't know the answer to the first question, but you're not touching the glass on the bulb, are you?
Oils on your skin will cause the bulb to blow out prematurely.

NOFX theres no way honda only sold 12,000 civic Si units in a whole model year in america. those numbers seem kinda small to me. plus there probobly isnt such a drastic difference in the number of units per color either. if blue was the most popular color they probobly only produced 20-30% more... no way they doubled production on a single color.

Trim dye. I hear black Kiwi shoe dye works too.

I didn't state any of it as fact. Read my post again. I said it was only what I've seen spread around.

The Electron Blue Pearl cars do seem pretty common though. I don't see it as unbelievable that it was twice as common as any other individual color.

EDIT: I went to the EM1 thread and looked at their longest memberlist I could find.

The results:
EBP - 77
FBP - 29
MR - 30
Unlisted Color - 36

So 136 cars with listed colors total.

EBP - 57%
FBP - 21%
MR - 22%

I know this isn't solid conclusive information since it's not ALL the cars ever produced and the location of all of the cars isn't known (some could be Australian, etc.). But the majority of the members would be from the US with USDM EM1s. So the results are at least a rough idea of the percentages.

hey im back had a few problems with the internet, dang this blew up lol....

first off, i dont touch the glass on my bulbs, im going to do a whole run down on my wiring to my headlights as soon as it warms up im in indiana and its just been too damn cold.

2nd.... the SI badge thing im not going to do, it would bother me that someone could just come up and rip it off ((((((you can go to your local honda dealer and pay 16+ for a 1999-2000 honda civic si badge....))) ahh and yeah i have tryed the painters tape before just dont like to, and yeah i was talking about detailing when it came down to the word "glossing" lol sorry about that.

thanks for the replys on the civic's and how many were made, i keep hearing diff numbers from everyone. too bad they didnt come with a stamp plate of production. didnt the GSR type r or whatever they are come with stamp plates at one time? or maybe it was just some custom BS someone thought up.

well while we are at it. not to come off subject. but whats a good carbon fiber hood..... not what style im going with the standard Si OEM look. but what are mid pay range BUT good carbon fiber layouts, not smashed layers but curved edges and everything

but again thanks for everyones replys about the lights and the badge.

Type Rs came with production number stamps. GSRs did not. Mugen Si sedans didn't even get them.

Regarding this, I actually made a thread for EM1 owners to vote for what colors their car is.

EBP has actually recently dropped. It was 49% earlier today or last night.

36 (45%) - EBP
22 (27.5%) - FBP
22 (27.5%) - MR

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-acura-28/what-color-your-usdm-em1-si-2510042/

So it looks like what people have been saying about the percentages is about right.
