Default Are the aftermarket oil pans worth it?

I think I blew a motor because of oil starvation. I use the car for aggressive street driving, occasional auto-x and a few track days. I would appreciate any thought and comments. The car is a 93 delsol sohc VTEC. 100k+ mi.

Moroso makes a pan with an optional splash sheild to make sure to avoid just that. It makes it a 5.5 quart oil system, but it does the job.

I don't think Spoon makes a SOHC oil pan.

I want to get an aftermarked oil pan but I think I'll run into problems cause I had to bang my pan in a bit to get the header to clear. Anyone know if you can run JDM header with the aftermarkets?

Yes, I am running JDM 4-1 with heat shields with a moroso aluminum pan, no fitment problems at all, Also almost 6 quarts of oil in my motor makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

well, the purpose of aftermarket oil pand is either for more oil volume, or to prevent the oil from splashing around under hard circuit conditions. they are also run the oil a little cooler because of the design.

Moroso makes an excellent product. It actually comes with a fitting to accomodate for a turbo feed line or a to fit an oil reading unit. (TMS.TX, Bryan CS)
For turbo a application(Drag specifically), so you wouldn't have to weld the oil pipe on there to attach to the oil feed line - is that true?

true, but it only cost me $20 to get the fitting welded, it costs like $400 to get the morrosso, you decide what the best bargain is

Yeah, I was just wondering...I had thought about getting a moroso just to have one for turbo and then putting the stock back on if I planned on selling the car w/o the turbo. I will probably just go to my local dealer and just get an OEM for about 30-40 bucks(I think that's what it will cost).

The real purpose for a turbo car is the fact that you increase your oil capacity. for the 1000th time, oil is the lifeblood of your engine, and your turbo.

for me, it wasn't worth spending $400 on it although i definitely would if i had the cash. I just went ahead and got a B&M oil cooler for $100. It slightly increases oil capacity AND cools the oil.

you can also look into getting remote oil filter mount and use a LARGER filter. LIke one of those NASCAR ones that are 3x larger than honda stock.
