after 2 sec prime i have 0 fuel pressure.
my car will start and run fine. but once i cycle the key the fuel pressure gauge drops down to 0 as soon as the pump stops. i dont have any fuel leaks, could the valve on the fuel pump be screwed up allowing fuel back into the tank? 255 walbron, stock injectors, aem fpr, stainless steal hose.

Check your Aem fpr. Adjust it to the proper fuel pressure for your application. You're loosing pressure prematurely.

Here's a quick test to rule out the fuel pressure regulator:
If you still have the factory rubber fuel return line running off the fuel pressure regulator to the hard line, pinch it shut carefully with some vise grips right as you have a buddy shut the engine off. If fuel pressure still drops, it's the fuel pump check ball. If it doesn't drop it's the fuel pressure regulator.
Since you say it holds steady pressure while running, then I am willing to bet that it's not the fuel pressure regulator.
Another possibility would be injectors staying open, but that would cause starting problems because the cylinders would be flooded.

If I understand correct, you lose fuel pressure when turn the car off right? But otherwise no running, or fuel shortage problems? It sounds like the fuel pump reverse flow check ball isn't working.

Re: after 2 sec prime i have 0 fuel pressure.
i got a 90 crx si zc swapped, and i dont know if im having the same problem as you or not, its very hard to get it started, it ran fine up until recently when it started getting hard to start then just stopped starting altogether, the starter is good, and its getting fuel and fire, i got it to start a few days ago, but it would only run for a few minutes then shut off.. any suggestions?

i dont think the problem is the same since its shuts off after a few minutes. i would make sure you have good fuel pressure and spark plugs and vaccum lines are correct and not leaking. was it smoking when it ran? also check timing belt a tooth off would cuz some problems. if you got fuel and spark...all you need is air... and a working ecu to make a car run.

Re: after 2 sec prime i have 0 fuel pressure.
i got it started two times a few days ago and it would smoke for about half a minute then run for another five or six and shut off, i know its gettin air cuz you can hear it sucking in through my short ram when given throttle, how would i go abouts checking the fuel pressure? im pretty sure its getting good pressure cuz when i loosen the banjo bolt on my fuel filter the gas squirts out, new plugs and wires.. im somewhat limited on tools to the basic wrench set and the odds and ends needed to work on a car, but i dont have any electrical tools or anything to check my timing.

timing can be check without a timing light. The cams and crank have marks on them that line up with marks on the block and head. i would buy fuel pressure gauge, do a compression tester.

im running a zc dohc, and all the marks on the cams crank block etc. make no sense, and it would appear as though the front cam and the rear cam are one tooth off according to the little arrow that says up..

with dohc's the marks might be off a half a tooth just because the timing belt tension pulls one back a lil. so ur probably safe....is the head gasket broke? its odd when it dies does it fall flat or cough and choke out?
