Is the aem v2 cai better than the original aem cai?

No, it's not. AEM found that the original was making too much power. Law suits started to appear from people blowing their engines, trans, and extreme whiplash from the massive amounts of torque it creates.
So, after major uproar from the public AEM was forced to make a system that made less power.

with the AEM v2 the aem hump comes sooner but overall power is only a little better. Not worth the extra $$$. If you can find one cheap get it. otherwise stick with v1.

Click on AEM V2
and than Performance
and then in the bottom right click on Dynographs.
good luck.

The AEM website shows minimal gains of the V2 over the original one, but I still bought it for my D16Y7 engine. I am not into racing, I only use the car on weekend trips (no need for a daily driver in NYC) and wanted to get the most out of it, because sometimes the power just wasn't enough to go up some hills. The V2 did A LOT for my engine and I am very happy with it. This doesn't directly answer your question, but at least it's a testimonial from a happy user

Re: Is the aem v2 cai better than the original aem cai?
im not too fond of intakes really!
when i dynoed my car i ran it with two different intakes! and i lost only 2hp peak. power band was equal thru the entire band!
i stick with my 3" short ram pipe and EG stock air box with stock drop in filter!
just my $.02

Search for some dyno results, I actually have heard the v2 makes less power then the older ones.
