If there is one that goes on the crank then it's probably smaller and the ones on the accessories are larger. That reduces the amount of work the motor has to do. The motor, doing less work from turning the accessories can put that extra HP to the wheels.

How much HP? I have no clue.

OT, but what are those things that people put on their cars that cause bearings to go bad? Is it pulleys or what? Something to do with them not having harmonic dampening.

aftermarket crank pulleys are bad because they lack the harmonic balancer. which causes excess bearing wear

Thanks man.

To the OP- I really don't think the pulleys would make a significant difference. I pulled my AC and PS and didn't notice a difference.

I just read an article from a 1999 super street or honda-tuning and they tested the alt and power steering pulley on an integra. They got a few (3 I think) HP around 3000-3500 and then another spike of 1.5 around redline. The rest of the curve was the same. So for the money its not worth it. But if you want an AEM alt pulley cheap I have one. It's for a crx but will work will work on some others the only problem is it takes a 3 rib belt not a 4. My buddy is considering it for his del sol but doesn't know if he wants to go through the work of changing the belts just for a few HP.

they are not worth the money. if you search on here their is an article about the dampening issues that they disturb.

an alternator pully will also decrease the amount of output your alternator has. not all aftermarket crank pullies have harmonic issues, I don't know much about AEM's, but unorthodox makes a good one.
