Default AEM CAI Rubbing Problem

Hello.
I don't know if anyone else had this problem or not, but I'm having a "rubbing" problem with my CAI in my '93 Hatch. As the pipe goes down the narrow hole, it is rubbing against the metal on the sides. It looks like the previous owner of the CAI had problems with this as well (there was black electrical tape wrapped around that area).
Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Maybe apply foam adhesive on the side to prevent rubbing? I'm not sure.. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

slip a rubber coupling over the the intake where it rubs against the chassis. That should work.

I have the same problem, I'm just too lazy to fix it. The rubber coupling will work, or if you have some spare rubber hose you can use that. (r/c fuel tubing, etc...)

will it cut through the rubber coupling as well? i can see that the intake is already cutting into electrical tape, so i'm worried that it'll cut through the rubber as well.
thank you for the advice.. i'll try that... home depot here i come.

Rubber hose, cut it down the middle and slide it over the metal where the electrical tape is.

AND the grommet around the CAI. That way your rubbing rubber on rubber.

LoL...rubbing rubber on rubber. (Type that three times fast)

Better yet.....Take a flexable yet thick piece of metal and loop it through the bracket that holds your air filter on. Find the threaded hole near the filter and make sure the metal reaches. Take your new soon-to-be bracket off and drill a hole that you should have marked while you were down there. Put the bracket back on the filter bracket and put a bolt up in there. It should hold nicely...it's even better if you can find a rubber grommet type material that you can put in between the bracket and the chassis so that it can still flex when your motor torques back.

quick update.. after tearing through home depot during lunch, i was not able to find any rubber hoses...but i found some flexible bathroom caulk that looked fairly soft yet durable. i wrapped one around the pipe, and i'm going to run with that for now. i'm still going to try the rubber option as a long term solution, but for now, it looks like an option. I have used Door edge guard many times on people's cars with that problem. It works very well, it looks clean, you don't need to cut anything and the glue in the door edge guard keeps it in place!
