AEM CAI question
I just got an AEM CAI system for my ek civic thats got a b16, my question is, whats the best way for me to prevent water from getting to my filter? I dont want to cut my inlet pipe in half and install the air bypass valve right now, I'm definitely going to get the AEM prefilter but is there anything else I can do to protect my engine from hydrolock?

Re: AEM CAI question
honestly, short ram intake > CAI. Only because you won't suck water up with a short ram and a stock b16 will get the same amount of HP gain out of a short ram that it does from a CAI.

I never had a problem with a cold air intake... Just dont try and off road your car through any streams
If it looks to deep then go around! Normal rain and small puddles wont do anything! Dont take off your wheel well liner too will help out alot...

This ^
Like everyone has said you dont need to worry inless you are parked and have your intake burried in a puddle while you idle. a little water wont hurt the engine most of it will burn of once it hits the combustion chamber anyway. I have drove around washington year round with a cold air intake going through every puddle on the road and have never had a problem I have pulled the intake off and water didnt even make it close to the throttle body. and to this day I drive me boosted car daily with the Intake filter for the trubo right behind the front bumper with no problems as well.

Re: AEM CAI question
While CAI's may sound cool, I have to reiterate what other's said:
A 3" diameter short ram with a velocity stack is hands down the best intake setup there is for these cars. You'd have to spend the money on the AEM v2 to get comparable results.

Re: AEM CAI question
here is a guy on the forum that did alot of back to back testing on his H22 with different style Intake systems and even compared them to stock.
Here is a dynop Stock Intake Is in the RED and The Aem Intake is in the BLUE all gains can verry on different motors in different climates ect Im just throughing this out there for fun As you can see he didnt cain much at all! maybe 2 HP in random spots through out the power band! not worth the price tag if you ask me!

Re: AEM CAI question
there has been a lot of research on which one makes more power and I have to agree a short ram and air box is going to be more productive and not have to worry about hydro lock; to get back to your original question.
here is a link to the box I am using with a NACA duct I molded to the bumper

you deff. want to run your water shields under the car and fender liners to stop those splashes from getting sucked up.
