Default advice on possible tranny woe

after i finishe my swap this past weekend i went to test drive my car and it drive great then the tranyn started to whine a little mostly in 2nd gear and a little in other gears then the whining got louder i got worried i didnt know what it was. i must have driven about a good 10-15 miles liek this before my dumb *** remembered i drained the tranny fluid and forgot to fill it back up . i stopped the car and had a friend pick me up and i went to buy 3 quarts of mobile 1 full synthetic 10W-30 and i filled her up. i drive the4 car easily for a couple of miles and the whining sound went away considerably but i can still hear it a little in 2nd gear but it goes away in the upper rpm range. other than the noise there is nothing else wrong not grinding no strange noises other than the slight whining. what damage have i done? and will i be ok or is it too late. i mean the trany is fine now except for the whining. any thoughts?

As long as it runs I'd continue to drive it. Big to you for not filling the tranny back though.

you might want to try some gm syncromesh fluid. but your tranny will still hate you.

I don't suggest dropping motor oil in a tranny. They make MTF for a reason.

Good stuff. I myself have never used motor oil and never will. I would suggest the GM syncromesh though. It's good stuff.

the tranny should be fine, probably didnt do any damage.
EDIT:
regular oil isnt all that bad but you should NEVER use synthetic in a transmission... go get honda mtl right now or the gm synchromesh.
