Adjusting speedometer needles...how to?
How do you adjust the needles on the speedometer for calibration purposes. I know what RPM I need to be at in a certain gear and the like, I just need to know how to go about the actual needle calibration.
My car is indicating that I am going a lot faster than I actually am and it is bothering me a lot. So I need to know how to set it back a little bit. It was so off today that I passed one of those police MPH display things on the side of the road and my speedometer was reading over 10 mph faster than my actual speed.

Why would I have to buy a new cluster? Isn't there a way to remove the glass on the cluster without taking the whole dash out, and then you can manipulate the speedometer needle so it reads the correct MPH reading?
Buying a new cluster is not something I want to do since I like the one I have.

Very expensive huh? I thought it would be. I guess I gotta take it to the local calibration place. I also assume that adjusting the speedometer won't mess with the tach reading right? Cuz if I calibrate the speedometer, I don't want the tachometer to be modified since the tach is right on.
It's just the speedometer that is off, and I know it has a lot to do with the fact that I don't have tire and rim diameter the size of the Prelude rims and tires.

No, it's just reading a lot higher than it should, sometimes lower I think too. I'm not really sure about it all the time, because sometimes I'll have traffic just flying past me like I'm standing still and other times it's the opposite...I really need to calibrate this thing pronto. I think what I am going to do is take it to this one shop by me that does pretty much that and nothing else.

my car was the same since the previous owner put an aftermarket gauge face on it and took off the needles. the needels come off easy. I just pased my girlfriends car that was set on cruise for a certain speed. it worked well. to check it find some of those annoying radar signs that cops use that say "your speed is __ the speed limit is __". you know, those things they have at construction zones sometimes. I got mine down pretty well. as for the tach if it is off and you have vtec you can use either the vtec kick in point or your idle rpm to set it correctly.
