ADJUSTABLE CAM GEAR PROBLEM!

I am driving a jdm 93 honda civic eh9. lately i bought a used JG adjustable cam gear without the woodruff key. My mechanic told me if there is no key, it is impossible to secure the cam gear to the stock camshaft. Is it true or is there anyone who have used this cam gear without the key? Please advise. Thanks

yes you need that woodruff key. you can pick them up from the dealership as it is an oem part. dont' try to run your car without it!!

oh no...i am from singapore and i dun think there is any shop that is selling just the key alone. where can i order the woodruff key from? The brand of my cam gear is JG. Is it a well known brand? Anyway some workshop said some adjustable cam gears like AEM do not need to have the key.

AEM comes with a woodruff key. If you run without the key, your gear will just spin without the camshaft, thus not rotating the camshaft, thus not opening/ closing the valves... which probably leads to your pistons meeting your valves head on.

EDIT::
Look up online stores that sell woodruff keys. Any Honda dealerships with a Honda service center can order the key for you.
