Adding Remote Trunk Latch

Adding Remote Trunk Latch
Hi, I bought a 1998 Civic Hatchback without a remote trunk opener. I also have a 1997 Civic Hatchback with a remote trunk opener.
I am scrapping the 1997 Civic but I'd like to know if I'd be able to swap the remote trunk opener to the 1998 Civic.
I'm hesitant because they work differently. The 1997 doesn't have a lock/unlock ***. It just unlocks when you press the remote trunk latch or unlock the trunk door. On the 1998 I have to unlock it before I open it.
If not would I be able to add a remote electric door lock?
Thanks

Re: Adding Remote Trunk Latch
I did a trunk popper in my coupe. I used a door actuator with a second trunk release cable to make this work (aux. button on alarm remote).
You can certainly do this in a hatch, but you're going to connect the actuator to the rod linkage rather than the coupe's cable release:
