Default Adding a factory sunnroof system to a hatch?

Let me first say I don't care about gaining the weight or body flex and I'll deal with the price aspect later (which won't be quite as bad since I work at a Honda dealership). This is just a street car and I'd like to have a sunnroof from a 5th gen EX/Si.

So has anyone done this swap? I'm just wondering what's involved in the install and if anyone has comments on adding it. Will my stock CX roof facilitate the sunnroof assembly, or will I need to get a new roof?

Thanks for any help and keeping any flames to yourself.

well for factory sunroof you will need wiring up for power. you have to go2 a shop and get the roof cut to size

So are you saying it's not prewired for a sunroof? Any idea of how to go about wiring it it up?

I can also get a marginal discount on body work since my employer also runs a body shop, though I'm not yet sure of their competance in a procedure of this magnitude.

Thanks for the reply.

from what I've read it's a major pain to put in a sunroof.
most people I know who have them never use them and if they do its just at night when it's nice out,
they suck for driving in the day IMO, sun is in your eyes

That's what the sunshade is for.

I do realize it's a pain in the ***, though. It's just a "luxury" I'd like to have and I'm tired of waiting for an Si hatch to come up for sale near me so I'm tempted to convert my CX to an Si.

you'd probably be better off by getting an si roof skin put on your car and either the si or ex coupe sunroof cause the 4 door one slides into the car. si headliner and all the mechanical stuff for the roof. its really not that hard, i've done it at work before on things a lot harder like a suburban (they suck) gotta pull your windshield to replace the roof but the bodyshop will take care of that.

It's starting to seem like it's more effort than it's worth. Maybe I'll check the local 'yards for a totaled Si and swap everything over and buy a new roof skin.

Any other input?

Is it the same as the EX/Si? I may be interested in a few months if it is the same.

im sure it would be easy to wire it up. as far as getting the hole cut in your roof, make sure someone with a very good reputation or a warranty does it, because ive seen a lot of aftermarket installed sunroofs leak.

I would like to know also. I had a 92 si that was stolen and I got a cx. I miss the sun roof so much in the summer. I was thinking of doing a sliding rag top. I know it is kind of ricey but it would let alot more air and sun in. I am going to do a full cage so don't really think my car will flex that much. Let me know what you find out.
