Adding alcohol to fuel tank to pass emissions?
My roomate owns an 3g RX7 and he just told me that some of those guys add pure alcohol (about a gallon) to a tank of gas and it helps their cars pass inspections. RX7's run pig rich
Im not having any problems passing emissions; I was just wondering if any of you had heard about this and if it has any truth to it or if it's complete bullshit. And an explanation on why fuel+alcohol would burn cleaner emissions.

Yes, rx7's are rotary powered engines, but the alcohol would cool the air and allow them to run more boost because it would also raise the octane of the fuel.
Some of them actually run alcohol injection, which does the stuff mentioned above, and I believe all FD's water injected, which helps cools the temperature of the intake air.

Adding alchohol MIGHT reduce your NO numbers by a little bit but don't expect to get any major results. It's almost just like adding octane booster to your gas. It will not have any effect on your hc or co readings though.
