if you have it laying around, why wouldn't you put it on??
the flywheel if help your car rev quicker by having less weight and restriction to spin the flywheel, thus puttin' the power down to the wheels..the clutch will allow you to transfer that power through the gears, or something

Depends on the launch and what tires you are using.
My old D15 on slicks was .15 SLOWER with a 12.2 lb flwheel compared to a stock 18 unit.
WHY?????
The puny D15 NEEDED the heavier to launch the car. Once car is moving, then the lighter flywheel will be a little faster.
Now onto my Z6 NA setup on slicks, I was .2 tenths FASTER with same lightweight flywheel and used Centerforce DF disc over the stock unit.
