act or clutchmasters?
what's up i want to get everyone's opinion on cluthces. i have a 97 civic ex and my clutch is ****. it slips real bad when i try to race. i don't have a turbo or anything major yet, so i was trying to decide between an ACT heavy duty or a Clutchmasters stage 1. this will be good for what i have for at least another year before i turbo right? tell me what you think. thanks for everyone's help

I posted a poll about 2 weeks ago here to get people's opinion also.

well... i don't know if this is gonna help you or not. i run a combination of the two. i had the clutchmaster (i think its the stage III) with the carbon kevlar disc and that worked fine. the only complaint i had was that the pressure plate felt weak.... like less pedal resistance than stock. so... i figured that all of the grip was coming from the disc. when i rebuilt my motor, i figured it was time for a new clutch. i was working at fmax at the time and all the kids were buying the act extreme clutches. i was impressed after driving a couple... the pressure plate felt solid and the clutch held the power of the turbos well. so i ordered one... when i got it i was lookin it over and the disc looked almost stock.. whick kinda bothered me bein that i was building a potential 400 hp beast. after much discussion with friends and coworkers, i decided to run the act pressure plate with the clutchmasters carbon kevlar disc and it hasn't skipped a beat since. its been over 2 years now.. granted i've only driven the car about 5000 miles since the rebuild. but when i drive it... i really drive it.

Re: act or clutchmasters? (supergreenSol)
hey supergreenSol, just out of curiousity, how is your b16a that was built by AEBS? i live in s. cali as well and i'm thinking of having them rebuild my engine when i have the funds but would like some feedback as well.
i'm ordered their headgasket for my ls motor and hondata stage 2b. i'm putting that in once the bugs are worked out of my car. oh yeah, does Paulus do the rebuild himself or does someone else handle that?

ACT Xtreme PP w/ street/strip heavy duty disc. Grabs great, nice 3rd gear scratches and pedal feel is stiff yet liveable.
