Default accord type r swap in 98 ex problems

me and my friend swapped in a 01 atr motor in his 98 civic ex and it runs like **** until u warm it up. when its cold the motor wont move. u floor it and it goes slowly. takes it 10 seconds to go from 2k to 3k. for it to run good u have to turn on the headlights. as soon as u do it pulls hard. also it bogs and backfires alot. someone told me it coyld be da fuel pump cuz the motor demands alot more fuel. need any help.

its the accord euro r. but why would it be the fuel pump if it works in higher rpm? Maybe you have a bad ground so when you turn on your headlights it has more grounds?
EDIT: what weight of oil is your friend using?

Are you running the correct ECU for the engine? Are all the sensors and vacuum lines correctly hooked up??

The fuel pump, unless terribly bad, wouldnt cause this problem. Any stock Honda fuel pump will supply enough fuel for any stock Honda engine. Generally about enough to make 250whp...some have made more

You should definitely go OBD1. I had an H22A Euro R motor in my hatchie (CROME tuned), and it ran like a pisa crossing the boarder!

Euro R's are the H22/23 motors, correct?

If so, dont the injectors use a resisotr box of some sort?

Just wondering is there EGR on the euro motor, if it is that might be a factor.
