Default Accident Repair Costs

I want to buy this, a freind of mine is selling this Civic:

1992 DX
4 Door
5 Speed Stick
120,xxx miles

He wants $300 for it.

All it needs engine wise is a new timing belt, but it was recently in an accident and the accident hasn't been repaired, so I'll need to repair it myself. Pictures are in my fotki album, there's a link below. How much is it going to cost for me to repair this car? Is it even worth buying?

Here's the link to my fotki album.

http://public.fotki.com/rlich/randum/

Please let me know what you guys think.

Roy

you have to check the frame by where it was it and if its bad that might be alot to pull out depending on where you go.

That car has frame damage, no question. Looks like it was rusty also. I personally wouldn't touch it, unless you have some good "connections" to do frame and body work . . .

I guess he didn't have full insurance coverage?

No, he did not have full coverage on the car, and it is a little rusty in some places.

Any idea how much it will cost to get the frame fixed?

You might be purchasing a blown motor, too.

not to sound like a dick, but i wouldnt even fix that car up if it was free.

frame damage is something you dont wanna deal with. its expensive as hell, and the most unfortunate part is that it typically flexes back over time of driving it around.

to the new car idea

**** everyone on this site giving you negative imput on that civic. I WOULD buy it for 300!!!!!! Come on...you sell the exaust manifold...maybe the block or the head...ECU, harness...head lights....radio.. speakers....just little things and you already made our money back from the 300!! If not...you can only pay 300 and have a whole car for cheap...everyone says it has frame damage, BUT they ARN'T FORSURE!!!!!! The just assume the worse.....ask if you can take it for a drive....take it to a body shop real quick during that (drive) and find out....you CAN do that yourself... I JUST got finished beating my quarter pannle and bondo...fiberglass....sanding, and painting all tonight....AND i got my ******* RADIO stolen while trying to get some spray cans of clear coat and a 30 pack of miller high life. how ******* gay....of all nights to not initialize my alarm.....TONIGHT they gotta take my radio out of walmart parking lot...AND the cameras couldnt see it!!! ****....all theirs millions of dollars in crime stopping cameras didn't help me tonight, *******.

Now he only wants $200 for it. I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to pick this car up...

I still don't want to deal with the frame damage though...

that might be possible to sell off some parts but it sounds like his timing belt snapped, possibly causing some damage to the motor.......

it cost me 250$ to get my subframe (front passenger side) pulled...... imagine what that will cost to get all that pulled..... plus the cost of two new doors ? plus paint if you want it to match, which you might not want.. its not like its a super car, its a 92 DX Sedan........ my boyfriends 93 DX Sedan, which was mint aside from some rust spots in your typical rear quarter panel cost him $1200.... i think you'll be spending more to fix that than it is worth ...

my vote is no dont buy it, but it is ultimately your decision

don't buy it. Because its going to cost more to fix than buying a car without damage. On selling parts its a dx no one wants any of those engine parts. I've been selling my civic parts for 4 months and no one wants them. so I been throwing stuff away. Its a waste of $200 dollar.
