Default Accident on my car

I got rear ended last week and like the next day i notice that the right rear quarter panel was dented in. It wasnt dented in during the time of the accident though. I was hit on my tailgate on my hatch. the guy was going i would say 25-30mph. Is the dent from the accident? could it have buckled from the impact and showed up later on. At first i thought someone smashed it in or something but i noticed that there werent any scratches or anything. let me know so i can tell the other side insurance so they can pay for it.

How sure are you that it wasn't from the accident? A quarter buckling happens all the time, especially in a rear-end impact. And a compression buckle usually doesn't show any scratches. Check your floor pan and rear rails for anything that isn't straight/square/normal.

In an accident, the damage is done at the time of impact though. So if you're sure that the dent wasn't there at the scene, right after he hit you, it won't show up some time down the road. If there's a lapse in time between the accident and the damage, then the damage isn't from the accident.

I'm pretty sure the dent wasn't that much in before or i would've noticed it in the beginning. I didn't look to see if it was dented in even a little but it for sure wasn't as much as it is now. Its on the passenger side and i parked the car in front of my house the whole day. so it couldn't have been hit by another car since the passenger side was towards the sidewalk.

how about you just tell the insurance company it was from the accident and get another car. After the insurance people come look at your car you can strip all the **** you want off of it because the tow truck will come and just take it right to the junkyard.

I got them to pay for the quarter panal. But my car isnt considered total making it still a clean title. So they only payed for the damage and a new paint job and a rental car. And they are fixing every dent on my car there is that wasnt related to the accident. So i think i got a good deal so im satisfied.

my insurance isnt going up at all. since i wasnt at fault and the guy who hit me admitted it was his fault and that he would pay for the damage. And since the total estimate came out to be about 3000, his insurance gave the check to the body shop which is now doing all my body work and paint job. they even got me a rental car to drive around until my car is done. pretty good deal if you tell me.

I came out of my apt. one morning to find something had rearended the expletive outta my car..Right in the very middle of the bumper, dented in the bumper reinforcement to the chassis..I didnt notice that both of my quarter panels bucked in until someone pointed it out to me 2 hours later..So it got put on the frame machine at my school and when they pulled the bumper back out the dent on the drivers side popped right out, on the passenger side a rubber mallet had to be used on the inside of the car..Sucks that whoever did it just rode out...********
