Default AC Tensioner Nut

*correction - meant to type nut instead of bolt*

hey guys, i had stripped the ac tensioner nut while performing a timing belt change and needed to order a new one. im looking at hondaautomotiveparts.com but on their diagram they say that this bolt is 10mm, but i know i took off a 14 mm. am i looking at the wrong part? its number 18. btw this is for a 94 honda civic dx.

the hex of the nut is 14mm but the threaded portion is 10mm. if you got the nut off, go to the hardware store and just buy one the same size. a nut like that you dont gotta go to the dealer for, just make sure it has the flat side on it or get a lock washer to meet on the pully.

What he said regarding the sizing, but if it was me I'd go with the OEM stuff, that nut is only 62 cents.

I did my timing belt on my car along with my friend's prelude at the same time. I helped him and he helped me. One thing I noticed though is that the prelude alternator has a tension bolt. Our civic don't for some reason.

I put everything together and had a horrible screeching sound on my civic. Found out it was my brand new alternator belt. I had tried pushing/tensioning the alternator by hand while my friend tightened the bolts. Well, that didn't work. Had to use a big long screwdriver to pry the alternator away from the head/block, then everything was perfect.

You probably already know this but I'd figure I'd throw that in. There's nothing worse then going through all that hard work, starting the car up, and be like OMFG WTF!??!! Then to have to go back again under/over the car and see what went wrong.

You're probably like "Durrrrrr DEE DEE DEE! I KNOW how to tension an alternator dumbass!"
