Default AC question?

Does anyone know what year was it that honda switched their AC systems to 134a refrigerant? Reason i ask is because i have a 92 SI and i would like to add AC. However, i will like a system that uses the 134a stuff so i can refill the the refrigerant at a later time without much hassel. Thanks.

1994 on all of the Honda vehicles. It is the law that all of the cars in the U.S. had to be using R134 by 1994.

no not true.. you will need to replace your reciever-drier and you will have to remove all components and take out as much of the mineral oil out of the system. Then you will have to replace it with PAG oil.

Please dont use those off the shelf refill 134A kits.. you will have problems.. Now the biggest thing is sealers.. If you refill it with sealant and you take it to a shop for inspection they will prob either refuse you or tell you go to somewhere else. So when you install the system in your car also please install the reciever-drier LAST and make sure you keep it capped when not installed.

So once done get it vaccumed and checked for leaks from someone professional.

retro kits have been discontinued. No longer available. Junk yard is your best bet.

Actually the Federal law states the usage of R12 in New cars and production of CFC's is the end of 1995. But some manafactures opted to stop using it prior to this deadline.

but keep in mind when you do a retro-fit you need to change the O-rings to fit the new R134A.
