AC Question

hey, about 2 years ago the compressor seized on my 98 hatch. just now ive finally got tired of driving around in the heat and want to get it all back together. i've got a new compressor on the car, but is there anything else i should go ahead and replace before i get them to pull vacuum on it and refill it? such as the drier or anything else? thanks.

Re: AC Question

If the rest of the parts are working fine you shouldn't have to touch anything else.

Re: AC Question

this is something i am unsure of since the lines have been off the compressor for about 2 years. should i wait until they tell me whatever piece is bad, or is there anything i could just replace now to save them the time that is typically a problem causer?? thanks for the input.

If the lines have been off the compressor for about 2 years, then you should replace the receiver/dryer. That receiver/dryer has desiccant in it which removes the moisture from the freon. If the system has been opened, the desiccant will remove the moisture from the air and thus render itself useless. I'd replace that since it's not all that expensive. In addition, since your compressor seized, I'd replace the expansion valve as well. Little pieces of the compressor may have clogged the expansion valve.
