Default AC question

The AC in my car is not working for crap. I was told by the guy that I bought it from that it worked. I noticed the power connection for the fan in the engine bay (I am assuming thats the condensor) is unplugged. Even without the car turned on, when I plug it in it starts spinning (even when the engine is cold). I have been afraid to keep this plugged in, in fear of draining my battery. Do you think this is why my AC is not working though? Does that fan HAVE to be on?

connect it and see if your AC works. Does the plug looks like its a Honda plug or a hack job? If it looks OEM, i don't see why it would drain your battery.

its definitely the OEM plug. I was wondering why it was disconnected in the first place. I am heading out to work now and was gonna plug it in and try it along the way. I will let you know what happens

Well, I just drove to work with it plugged in, and the ac never got cold. Could need a charge so that will be the next thing I tackle, but the fan still didn't shut off once I got to work so I unplugged it again. When I take it to have the AC charged I will have them look at it.

watch how long it'll stay on. Also, you may need a recharge or you may have a leak. My dad's Saab has the fan on for about 2 mins after the car is off.
