okay 95 del sol with gsr swap using del sol sohc ac compressor and P7J crv bracket. cant really describe the sound it makes, like a clothes drier i guess i dunno

I have this noise coming from the ac compressor with the engine on and ac off.

when the engine is on and i turn on ac (clutch engaged) the noise go away when the ac compressor clutch is disengaged the noise/sound return. If that makes sense.

is the clutch on the compressor bad? from the videos and threads im reading when you turn on ac the clutch will make a sound, but mines is the other way around.

is your idler pulley ok?

yes. i took out the belt and spun the idler pulley by hand and it didnt make any grinding noise or whatever sound they usually make. it spins freely

I did check operation of the compressor clutch cover or whatever it is and it look like it was wobbling when engaging. should i just change it? Autozone sells em for 106.99 plus tax

You likely need to replace the compressor pulley.

they only sell the pulley as a complete

It's a tight space, but it's possible to replace the pulley and clutch without removing the compressor from the car and disconnecting the refrigerant lines, if you're patient and have the right tools.

thanks it was the pulley. i ended up replacing the armature plate, pulley, and coil

Just curious - Did you do the job by removing the compressor or leaving it attached to the refrigerant lines?
