Is the AC bracket motor mount necessary?
Hi there
I have a 97 civic with a b series swap. I took the AC system out. My question is, is that bracket and motor mount necessary or can i take it out and just use the 3 mounts left?

I drove around with a ripped one for about a year, don't think it will hurt anything,
My buddy ( a mustang guy) would always wonder why hondas have so many mounts, when his 300ft/lb torque V8 only has needs 3,
3 are probably okay...

I would suggest leaving the A/C mount in. It's one of the mounts to aid with the motor freely rocking back and forth.

I think that is a inaccurate assumption.
Anyways, that is called an AC bracket, I dont have an Ac anymore, so following your analogy, then I dont need it.

it is an accurate assumption. especially in a EK with a b-swap. i have the same situation where i thought running three mounts was okay since EG's can run with 3 mounts. however, the EG has a stronger driver side mount, which isn't a liquid-filled piece of sh*t like the 96-00 civic's come with. take it from me, i'm still in the process of finding an ac bracket, but you're also going to need the passenger side front tranny bracket as well. without these, you're going to break that POS mount like me and end up paying another 50-60 to fix.

Actually no, yours is an inaccurate assumption. It is the bracket that holds the AC compressor, but the mount is a stabilizer mount, it, and it's partner on the other side keeps check on the moment of inertia. I drove around without them for a while, and it sucks, I have poly filled ones now and the difference is amazing. If you are using an aftermarket kit with stronger inserts, you can get away with it because they will control the motor more, but if you are using stock mounts, keep them, as said before they are there for a reason.

Yes some call it an A/C bracket yet cars from the factory without A/C have the bracket, if it's an A/C bracket why would that be?

absolutely need to keep bracket!!! even if rubber is torn on mount, helps stabilize position of motor when your raising hell. also 4 bolts that mount the bracket go back in aspecific order if you remove it. other wiase if you need to put it back it will be a bitch to get the bolts the whole way in.

If you are using the stock factory mounts, yes, use the A/C bracket lower mount. If you are using any type of aftermarket mounts with solid, strong urethane supporting the motor, then No, you can get away w/out using the lower mounts on that particular side.

who do you trust to engineer something better? ford or honda?
