Default AC bracket motor mount?

I had a quick question..... I noticed some pretty bad vibration at idle and upon acceleration from a dead stop so I decided to inspect the motor mounts. All of them checked out good except the mount that is on the AC compressor mount... complete history! Now I removed my AC system awhile ago, so my question would be..Do I even need this mount???? Im sure its an easy fix, but if I dont even need that mount, maybe I could just remove the entire bracket and be done with it. So if anybody could shed some light for me, Id appreciate it. Thanks.....

my friend removed his ac bracket like your thinking about doing, and it did not keep his motor still.

he took off from a dig and the motor jerked, and the crank pulley caught onto his a portion of the engine bay and killed the motor, im sure there were other things he didnt do right, but I personally would leave it in there, even if you took out the ac.

i run hasport mounts -- both sides and the rear.

i'm not running either of the front torque mounts and i've never had a problem.

I took it off and the motor still seems to be pretty sturdy. I dont race it at all, so I think that
i might be ok. I have yet to take it on the freeway though, so I dont know? Around town driving, the rattling noise is gone when i move from a dead stop, which was my main concern. I revved the crap out of it and the motor still hardly moved! BTW this is a 98 ej8 w/ d16y8. Bump for a little more info......

What do you mean "history"? Was torque-mount gone? Was the Bracket portion of the mount there, but the grommet gone? I have a JDM b20 that the previous owner removed the AC bracket and the front torque mount and low-and-behold, going up the driveway, the driver-side mount blows and there is now a sliver-dollar sized bulging dent in my once beautifully painted hood.

Ironically, I was in the process of trying to find an AC torque mount to add AC back onto the car, and this was the day before I had located one.... Gotta love it! I would recommend keeping it, because on the slight chance something crazy happens to your driver mount (e.g. hyrdaulic portion blows out), at least that mount will keep your motor from jumping too far, keeping it (1) out of your hood and (2) off of the road.

AC mount FTW.

When I mean history, I was just talking about the rubber mount having Hardly and rubber left in it. It was pretty badly deteriorated I drove it for about 50 miles yesterday and no problems. I am going to replace it though.... as soon as I can find one. Thanks for the input.....
