I am attempting to recharge the AC system on a 99 Civic CX. I put a deep vacuum on the system and start filling the low side with refrigerant. I get one 12oz can into it (50-60% full) and my High Side pressure was over 200psi which is where I would expect to end up when it was 100% full. Low side was nice and low, at low as 10psi.

When I started to fill from the second 12oz can the high side went up even more to 300psi and as high as 500psi when reved! And then the pressure switch would click off. The low side is still low aorund 40psi.

The engine was having a hard time idling with the AC on and I had to keep it revved to maintain idle. Eventually the compressor started smoking! At this point I stopped because something was clearly wrong.

I thought maybe the Compressor was maybe over or under filled with PAG oil so I replaced the compressor with a used one. Evac'd the system again and same results with recharged.

At this point I'm guessing a blockage somewhere but where? Last summer both the reciever/drier and expansion valves were replaced.
