What's a better and more durable material for front lips, ABS plastic or urethane?

What are OEM Honda lips made of?

ABS is more of a hard material which will kinda be more resistant to scrapes.
Urethane is more flexible and will not be as resistant to scrapes.

However, the ABS has a higher chance of breaking on an impact than the Urethane.

Huh what the heck,

My OEM Si lip is definitely of different material than my ABS Dynamics Type R style front lip which is ABS plastic.

My Type R style lip is a harder, more flimsy material

But my OEM Si lip feels more flexible, kinda like a rubber-like material, stronger, and is way higher quality

My urethane lip has been through two front end collisions, snow, ice, countless number of potholes, dips, steep driveways, etc. and it's still as good as new. It's also about 5-6 years old. I've had my entire bumper ripped off before without the lip even budging. From what I've read about ABS plastic, I would never buy an ABS lip.

oem CTR/si lip = urethane
Real Mugen lip = urethane (i know cuz i use to have one)

all other ctr (type R) "style" and mugen "style" are either in ABS plastic or CF

Yup, I was in a rush once time when I pulled into a parking space and hit the curb in front at maybe 3mph and it cracked the stupid ABS type r style lip.

im not raggin on his business or him.. im just talk about the lip.. Newman's a cool guy and i picked lots of stuff from JDMshit like my ef8 front

urethane lips are far stronger. Ive had mine for a couple of years and havent managed to crack it. And ive hit a couple of things really hard with it.

My OEM Si lip flew off and got run over at 80mph by many cars. I managed to find it on the side of the freeway and installed it back. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

my girlfriends abs plastic lip flew off on the freeway also, she ran over it, we went and found it later on the side of the freeway. put it back on like nothing ever happened. minor scrapes!!!

My old 99 si lip said ABS plastic on the back of it. I feel urethane is better because it is more forgiving when it comes to impact. ABS plastic is not universal, different companies make different feeling/looking ABS lips but they are still made of basically the same material

my ABS lip borke all to hell when i hit a racoon.....but for the price...i bought another one to replace it......

CF isn't always a great idea... If spoon made an ABS lip I'd buy it, but they don't.

urethane&gt;ABS but i paid $50 for my ABS lip...it has been through hell and has no cracks or chips....but urethane is 1000000000 better IMO.
