Default ABS light problem..

Hey,

I have an abs light on on a 98 Civic (bought it like this).

I need to fix it asap..

I whored the FAQ thread, and read this link: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2205909 which was posted there but couldn't find the parts outlined there, and after thinking that I'm a complete dumbass who can't follow a picture guide, I realized that it was posted in the Integra section (not sure why it's in the 92-00 Civic FAQ). So, was it misposted or am I blind or something because I jacked up my car and took off the wheel and I can't find the pictured part..

Anyways, regardless, what's my route to fixing this? My mechanic said it's probably the sensor... so where is the sensor? Do I clean it or replace it? Can I check the "code" that the ABS light is throwing which tells me exactly where the problem is or no?

Thank you.

take it to the dealer and they can tell you why the light is on with their scanner. this is how you'll know for sure why its on

Thanks but I'm kind of trying to avoid taking it to the shop. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer charged me like $150 just to read the code which takes them 5 minutes..

Most likely its the wiring, take off your wheels and see if there are any abs wires torn or what not. Its usually behind the rotor and you can follow it all the way up to the top of the fenders. Im not sure if you can buy it sepeartley, i think you would have to buy a new hub/wheel bearing as they are connected to it.

Ah okay, thanks, I'll have a look... would they be behind all 4 wheels?

Bump. Sorry for the annoyance I just need to fix this in order to put the car on the road.

I'm bleeding the brakes tomorrow (at which point I'll try to inspect the wiring) but other than that this is the only thing holding me back, so any other advice/tips would be great!

Thanks.

Im not sure if they are behind all four wheels, but front two for sure...the back are usually drums right. They are on the hub to be exact.
