Default ABS in K-Swap Write Up! ABS DELETE *Guide*

**pictures and more to be added**

I just completed my ABS delete and thought I would do a write-up on it since there is not much info out there. This delete can be done using OEM Honda parts that you can find in the classifieds or in the junkyard! You do not have to bend any lines or run any other type of lines. This is done with all OEM honda parts. Here we go:

The car:

1998 Civic EX Sedan with ABS
Rear disc conversion from Integra GSR
B18C engine (I'm prepping for my K20A2 swap)

The reason(s):

Someone just wanting to remove their ABS. Maybe 10lbs of weight reduction lol. Cleaner engine bay? Because race car?

When swapping a K-series into 96-00 civics with ABS, and using the EKK2 mounts, the ABS pump has to be removed or relocated since the EKK2 requires you to use the integra/civic eg subframe. The ABS pump will interfere with most, if not all header applications. In my case, i'm just going to get rid of ABS all together.

The ABS prop valve has 4 ports. The non ABS prop valve has 6 ports: 2 to the rear calipers, 2 to the front calipers, and 2 to the master cylinder.

ABS prop valve:

NON-ABS prop valve:

In order to complete this job, you will need:

Tools (these may vary. the following is what I used):

-10mm open end wrench
-12mm socket with extension
-19mm socket for lug nuts
-Big bottle of brake fluid
-rags
-clear tube for bleeding brakes afterwards

Parts

numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, and 11. The two brake lines that go to the rear line up perfectly with the non-abs prop valve.

Here is a part number list for proportioning valves so you can compare (CREDIT TO 94EG8 for the info!):

46210-S04-952 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 1998 INTEGRA RS
46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC CX Hatch
46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC DX Hatch
46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC DX Coupe
46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC HX Coupe
46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC SI Coupe
46210-S04-912 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC DX Sedan
46210-S04-912 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC DX-V Sedan
46210-S04-912 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC LX Sedan
46210-S04-922 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC GX Sedan
46210-S04-962 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING 2000 CIVIC EX Coupe

**As you can see, the 2-door civics share the same prop valve. I used a prop valve from a 1997 Civic HX Coupe. I have rear discs so it is the proper one for my setup. They call it a 40/40 prop valve.**

Steps

First place the front of your car on jack stands blah blah take off the wheels blah blah.........put music on, make sure to have water/beer/refreshments handy etc.

*Now is a good time to yank out that charcoal canister!*

Maneuvering the lines out of the engine bay is more difficult with the engine in. The lines are also tucked behind the fuel filter. More space can be gained by unbolting the fuel filter from the firewall.

There is a bracket that holds the ABS pump in place. It is held in by three 12mm bolts. The battery and accompanying bracket will need to be removed in order to gain access to the last bolt.

Prop valve will bolt up in the OEM mounting spots.

All of the hard lines fit and route through the engine bay perfectly. even some of the plastic clips that hold them in line up! *Honda is genius*

After all is complete, your ABS light will be on of course. I just yanked the bulb out.

Also, I will be removing the ABS control module (mounted on top of the ECU) later when I perform the swap.

Bleed the brakes and you are DONE!!!!!!!

What front brakes do you have? I put that chart comparing prop valves together years ago, the reason you'll see an RS Integra prop valve at the top is to show that it is in fact different than the civic prop valve, this is due to the Integras larger front brakes (the Si and EX civics use the same size front rotors, but the caliper pistons are smaller than the base model Integra) Externally a '98 - '01 Integra prop valve looks identical to any '96 - '00 civic prop valve, but it is valved differently inside. If you kept the stock EX front brakes then yes you do have the correct prop valve.

My car is a 98 EX and I kept the stock brakes. I credited you in the post and will add you into it on k20a.org as well. Thanks a lot! Helped me when researching this.

I take it the reason why you haven't removed the abs module is because its in a hard to reach place correct? Can't you just unplug it and leave it where it is?

I'm going to be removing it when I perform my swap (hopefully soon). But yeah you can probably just unplug it. I'll add more about that to the post later on.
