There's some fluid all over the front of the engine, could be oil, could be PS fluid. It looks like oil though. He said AS IS in caps, must need a little work. I wouldn't buy it if it were me, it doesn't look that clean. But $200 is an okay deal I guess.

Re: About to pick up a d16z6
check hmotorsonline.com for buying other engines.
first thing is first, the z6 wasnt an OBD2 engine. no knock sensor etc. and if he was building the engine or whatever then he would know that and not advertise incorrectly. secondly, the adjustable cam gear is pointless on a stock motor. so timing has been messed with. never know whats happened to it now. 3rd, no TB, no dizzy, no trans.
unless you are stripping it completely down and doing a full build i wouldnt buy it for a penny over 50-75 bucks

Just some examples, if you want to look for yourself check a lot of car forums for sale section. You can also check Ebay and maybe some JDM engine resellers will carry a D16z6 as well.

do i actually need the tranny? i already got a fully-working d16y7 trans, i was just wanting the long block.. or even just the head. also i have auto right now, so i dont plan on buying a trans until i switch it to stick in the next few months

he doesnt say whats wrong, he just says "as is" so something couldn't be 100% on it.. like something he didnt want to fix, so he just wants to get rid of it
