About to get $4000 and want to get a motor
Im really leaning towards getting a B18c5 and Installing my self but that will be about it, after getting a new clutch for the motor.
My second option is probably the Gsr motor B18c1 and i could probably get a couple add ons. But which motor is better? And what if i want to buy a turbo in the future. Will that be good for both motors or is one better for a turbo than the other. could i get some Advice. Thanks.

Man U FTW
I would suggest the GSR. They're a great factory engine and in stock form will handle ~300whp with a good turbo setup and tune. I ran my stock block GSR at 315whp/216wtq at 10.5psi on a GT3255b for 2 years (~18k miles) without issues. If you're planning to turbo it, read through the Forced Induction forum and do research ahead of time. Also, the FI FAQ is a great place to start.

Yeah. Im not about to pay $4000-$5000 for a swap that Im going to take apart and replace stuff. If you want to keep the motor stock then hey, be my guest. But its still used and are you sure just how many miles are on it? Id rather buy a block and actually build it then to be able to just say "I have a Type R", and still be stock. I dont care if you have Type R, who's faster around the track?

i say go h22a, and if you just get a s2 intake mani you dont have to mess around with wiring the secondaries or egr. Even if you decide to wire it up its not all that difficult. You can get a h22a shipped for $935 (engine only, that was my price, but im doing a h2b). You could a h2b with it or get the h tranny with it for probably an extra 400-500, hasport mounts for 550 (for a straight h swap), source a linkage cheap and the few other parts and youll be below 4k i think. h2b would put you right at 4k probably

if hes looking to have a reliable dailydriver thats quick why not a type r swap? its 2900 for a gsr changeover without shipping from h motors. buy the time your gonna swap different parts on it whats your money total gonna add up to? just simply cannot see how there overrated. u get what u pay for in this case its for a better setup

thats fine what u wrote but its still laughable u say there over rated. itr intake manifold, itr throttle body,4-1 header, 4.4 or 4.7 finaldrive lsd trans, stock ported head, itr or ctr cams, daul valve springs, decent compression stock, plus pistons and rods are balanced and its hand built. ya overated.

What parts do people reuse when building? Usually get new pistons, rods, new valves, cam gears, maybe even an Edlebrock intake and TB (if they want and I prefer). Just to name some things. Its to plan ahead. He might have money for Type R now, but what might be overall/future plans.....

Yes. I know the specs and that theyre hand built. Why not? Because he said he'll prob want to turbo later. Also, why pay for shipping? Look on Craigslist, pull it or have it pulled, see the dash and how many miles are on the motor, and work a deal with the person right there. Any shop will charge to much. No reason to have it shipped in.

everyone on these boards arent all gifted in mechanic's and might not be able to do the craigslist idea u have. thread starter sounds new to hondas so sending him in a forced induction direction will either lead to engine failure or extra $ for tuneing etc. if he is gonna one day go turbo i would hope he does it right and tosses some forged internals in and having a type r swap with forged bottom end for boost isnt a bad thing. PEOPLE HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO DO THINGS TWICE BUT DONT HAVE TIME TO DO IT ONCE THE RIGHT WAY. type r swaps are a very solid base for any build, and def more so than a gsr swap.
^^I'ma have to go with kgibson16 on this, I couldn't agree more.
