I went to this little backroad today and thought I would just take the turbo all the way up, and run it. well, I get to 2nd gear, and I all of a sudden hear a metal wacking sound. the car didn't shut off. but it started to slow down and eventually, half way i stopped it. now the car will rev up, but it just won't move. now, every time i rev my car up, into forward trying to move forward, I just hear this loud metal whacking sound. in first gear no brakes on, rev it up all the way, the car won't move an inch. I haven't had much time to look at it today. it's coming from the back of the engine bay. this sucks, please help!!! I don't want to be stuck driving an old '89 toyota camry. HELP!! THANX in advance. the good thing was, this backroad was near my house. so my freind and i pushed it.

sounds like a tranny problem... too bad i can help you. my guess it might also be a broken axel, but dont take my word on it

more likely the axle... I just had the same thing happen... It was the outer CVD...

axle, you mean driveshaft? please, don't let it be the tranny, $700 went into that. I hope it's the drive shaft. I can get a new one easily. anyone else?

Same thing happened to my buddies nitrous 97 LS. Tranny went out, had to get a new one.

oh crap, that must suck. I hope it's not the axle. it's ok if it's the driveshaft.

aren't axel and drive shaft the same thing?

hondas dont have drive shafts,those go on rwd vehicals,we have axel's and half shafts

I'm talking about the wheel axle, that could also be a problem.

you either lost your diff in your tranny or shot the barings in you cv shaft. sorry about problem bro.

this **** gets deeper and deeper. I'm gonna end up driving the camry for a few days. i'll check tommorrow. hopefully it's not anything too bad, thanks for the suggestions guys, i'll check all those.

dude go look in ur front wheels. if yous ee grease and stuff your axle broke. or look at the ale it self and see if its hanging and crap. it takes 2 secs to look at a car.

not necessarily, My axle broke on the outer cvd and it all stayed contained in the boot....

well when mine broke my axle broke in half and was hanging down. point is he wont know unless he looks. BTW get someone to put the car in gear and try to go. one side of the axle should spin but the other wont. i think.....

Yeah, I have had an axle break like that before too..... As for putting it in gear, yes... one axle should spin, that is unless you have LSD!!!!

my civic lx 93 back in the day broke because of a drive shaft.........grinding, wouldnt move, etc. Let me know how it turns out. Pretty sure thats what it is.

maybe the tranny, some thing like this happened to my bros gsr tranny, like it had a winding sound and one day he gunned it and chirped and al of a sudden it wouldn't move and it was stuck in gear. but he replaced that with an itr tranny and now its good as new. well for the new owner
