Default 99 Si cluster in 97 EJ8. Tachometer reads 1k low *searched*

So I just bought a EJ8 and had a lot of my parts from my Si. I swapped the cluster in and the tach reads 1k low across the rev range. I've searched and could find much, not to mention so one with the same problem.

So I'm not very sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated

So, when the cars on, it essentially reads 0?

Worked fine. I should add it's a b16 tach on a d16 but if iirc the tach signals are the same

Hook up a scan tool that reads live data, including engine rpm. Does the scan tool also misread rpm?

I have access to one... But I dont see why that would be an issue when the tach in the stock cluster worked fine.

If the scan tool similarly reads the incorrect engine rpm, then unplug the cluster to see whether the scan tool now reads the correct rpm. If so, the cluster is causing the problem.

Ah ok. I see what you're getting at. I'll try to get the scan tool today and report back

I have the same problem with my 93 gsr hatch. It is 1000 under.
Me and my friend hooked up his hondata and set the rev limiter to 6K and it would stop at 5k.
I don't know what the problem is..
