99 si bogging after cleaning air filter
posting for a friend:
99 si
all stock 'cept ghetto *** short ram
after cleaning the airfilter (k&n), the car was bogging BAD below 3k. the car threw a cel, but i didn't pull the code right away. turns out the filter was over-oiled. fixed the filter issue, reset ecu. the car is still bogging (though not quite as bad and with no cel).
i wish i would have pulled the code while the cel was on
anyway, does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the problem? the car runs fine w/o an intake arm and filter (ie bare tb), but as soon as the arm goes back on (not even a filter) it starts acting up again.
the ONLY thing that changed between the car running perfect and running like **** was cleaning and oiling the filter.
.
.
.
cliffs: cleaned and oiled filter, car bogged & threw cel, reset ecu, no arm/no filter - car is fine, arm/no filter or diff filter - car still bogs but no cel

Re: 99 si bogging after cleaning air filter (OBD1Kenobe)
It could be as simple as excess moisture being sucked through your filter. That seems like the only reasoning for it...

Re: 99 si bogging after cleaning air filter (tkosmith)
make sure the inside of the piping doesnt have oil inside of it from being sucked through
