99 Si/B20B swap/B16 tranny - Need Help With ECU
Kind of a long one but I need help to determine if my ECU is bad or something else may be wrong. I have a B20B with a B16 tranny, original wire harness in the car (99 SI), jumper harness to a PR4 ECU. My check engine light is ALWAYS on and refuses to go off. No one at any auto parts store has been able to connect to the ECU to check. It was says unable to connect or no link established. Im not 100% sure as too what is OBD1/OBD2 but can that be an issue? Ive been told that there could be a short in the wiring that doesnt allow the reader to connect to the ECU but if this is most likely they problem then it will a pain to determine.
Is there a way I can test the ECU itself like taking it out of car and having someone test it? Would throwing a different PR4 ECU cause problems? Can I use any other ECU that has not been chipped like a P2T or whichever is the original for the car. 1 person said no because it would cause problems since the original ECU is gonna use wrong mix of fuel/air and try to use vtec even though its not there. I will try posting pictures after work of the jumper harness/ECU.
Another thing that I want to know is that 2 cables are cut in the wire harness leading to the jumper harness. One is a blue/red wire and another is yellow and they are at the end of the harness. I will post a picture soon but are those wires really necessary?

Re: Need Help With ECU
I tried the the jumping with a paper clip but the CEL stayed on and instead the SRS light is the one that flashed. I will link a video of what happened and upload some pics.
this is the video:
these are the pics, 2 of which show the different cables that are cut that i wish to know what they are for:

Should I replace the ECU with another one, get it chipped, or get a chipped ecu?

Why are you using a PR4? Assuming you did the swap correctly, you should be able to run an OBD2B P75 ECU without any problems. The PR4 should theoretically work (assuming you're using the correct jumper, and have it wired correctly), but we've all heard the expression, K.I.S.S. Using a PR4 with a jumper is just two (or more) things that might create a problem. Also, with an OBD2B P75, you'll be able to use a standard code reader.
Find a friend with a 99-01 Acura LS or GS, and borrow their ECU. See if it helps.

Re: Need Help With ECU
This setup is how the car came when i got it, b20b with b16 tranny and pr4 ecu. Im pretty certain the car was stolen from previous owner and he threw whatever parts he could get and sold it. I was desperate for a car at the time and didnt pay attention to key details (diff engine, ecu, drums instead of discs in rear). So I should be able to just throw in a regular P75 with no problem? I dont know anyone with an ECU so I will have to buy one. Would you recommend buying one on ebay since I have some kind of warranty or someone on craigslist.

Re: Need Help With ECU
OBD2B will require you to remove the immobilizer, find an OBD2A and get a conversion harness. You will need to hook those wires back up as well. It looks like he tried to do bypass for the crank sensor and as usual those damn connectors cut right through the wire.
