Default 99 Si b16a2 into a 1997 Civic CX hatch.. help me out..

Alright, i have a 1997 Civic CX hatch, and im looking into buying a b16a2 99 si engine for it. The guy says the engine is complete except for a tranny. So, what i was wondering, what all will i need to drop the engine into my car? Can someone please make me a checklist of stuff? I already did a search, and read most of the posts, but still could not find out what i needed to find out. Any help is greatly appreciated, as this will be the first swap i will be doing myself.

What kind of tranny will i need?
Will i need to get an OBD2 to OBD1 Conversion harness?
What kinda of motor mounts will i need?

What else will i need to complete this swap?

I may be getting the engine, and everything but the tranny for 1000$ shipped, is that a good deal?

Thank you!

you need a Si rear mount and a b-series hydro tranny, si linkage, axles and halfshaft.
Use the wiring harness off the engine, plug everything up, then get a obd2b to obd1 and run a chipped p28.

Bolt-in swap
Requires 99-00 Civic Si Rear mount
Requires wiring harness modifications.

that motor is obd2. you could run obd1 if you got a converison harness and a obd1 ecu. they are more tuner friendly.
for the tranny just get the b16 tranny that goes with your motor or maybe an ITR lsd, that would be nice!

im confused about this OBD stuff? So wait, is my chassis an obd1 or 2? And the engine you say is obd2 correct? Hmm, so if i didnt want obd1, i wouldnt need any sort of conversion harness, or do I?

Alot of misinformation is this post..

The 99-00 Si motor/chassis is OBD2b and your car (96-98) is OBD2a.

You will not be able to use the wiring harness off the B16A2 since the cabin harness will not plug up with it.

You will just need to add the necessary wires/plugs to yoyur existing harness and everything else should be a breeze.

You will need to get any B-Series trannys and they will bolt up with no problem.

Check out the Hybrid forum as there are links everywhere to great writeups in regards to this particular swap.

I'll see if I can find the link for you.

Here is a link where I got the link from:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=650230

Here is a great writeup on what you will need to complete the swap:

http://www.phear7imports.net/subs/btroop/trey/6gen

The reason a few people told you it would be easier to get an OBD2a to OBD1 jumper harness, is because you will not be able to utilize the P2T Ecu the motor might come with and it's fairly harn to locate an OBD2a P30 ecu.

You can get the jumper harness from http://www.jdmshit.com (I get all mine from here) and I'm sure you can find an OBD1 P30 ecu or OBD1 chipped P28 from someone in the classifieds.

Hope this helps.
